Changed Locks Since Moving Home?

Have you changed your locks since moving home?

Recently, there have been a number of surveys regarding home security. One of these on “looking at how to secure your home”, points out that – out of a survey of 6,000 respondents – shockingly around two thirds of residents don’t change their locks when they move home. Considering that these 6,000 people were interested enough in security to respond, it is assumed that around with 86% don’t even consider changing their locks when moving. When we stop to think about it, it is easy to see the dangers as you have no idea how many previous owners had keys or gave out keys to friends and family.

11% of people move home each year (an average of moving 8 times in a lifetime) meaning that there are an awful lot of people out there with keys for someone else’s property. Statistics show that 6 out of 10 burglaries are now carried out through the front or back doors of homes in the UK – some of these without any visible damage, suggesting that the perpetrators had previous knowledge & possibly even keys for the house.
